Large poker tournaments are available all month long in the Keystone State. Big guarantees are on tap for players and Pittsburgh just shared some recent exciting news. One of the nation’s largest Bad Beat Jackpots of all time hit in the Steel City.

For December, PlayPennsylvania offers a comprehensive overview of poker tournaments and cash game promotions happening in the state. It seems that December is shaping up to be an exceptional month for PA poker players, featuring significant upcoming events and exciting deals.

Live! Casino Philadelphia offers $580,000 Road to Riches tournament

Live! Casino Philadelphia has tournament action every single day in the month of December. The Road to Riches tournament is the highlight of the month. Live! Philadelphia is running a $250 buy-in multi-flight event Dec. 6-10. With six flights to pick from, this event comes with a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000.

Players who survive their initial flight will play on Sunday, Dec. 10 until completion. A similar series will run the following week for $500 and will come with a $200,000 guarantee for Dec. 13-17.

Another big event will be the Live!Stacks $1,100 buy-in tournament with a $40,000 guarantee on Dec. 30. Besides these three tournaments, the poker room will host daily events for players:

The Rivers Casino Philadelphia poker room is holding some festive competition the week after Christmas. The casino will run multiple holiday deepstack events. The standout tournament will be the $300 Main Event on Dec. 30. It comes with a $20,000 guarantee and each player starts with 40,000 in chips.

In November, the Rivers Philadelphia poker room successfully concluded its Ultra Rush tournament. The event ended in a six-way ICM chop.

The top winner in the deal was John Wilson. He was the chip leader going into Day 2 with an impressive 441,000. He ended up winning $27,287. Local grinder Michael Bohmerwald was also included in that chop.

Rivers Casino Pittsburgh Bad Beat Jackpot hits for over $900,000

At Rivers Casino Pittsburgh on Nov. 28, eight poker players experienced an early Christmas surprise as the Bad Beat Jackpot hit at an impressive $905,622. The jackpot was triggered when one player holding four aces was bested by another boasting a royal flush.

The “loser” of the hand secured $362,250, while the “winner” earned $271,686. The remaining six players each received $45,281. Notably, Scott Thompson and Brent Enos, both from Pennsylvania, played pivotal roles in this captivating jackpot, with Thompson holding the four aces and Enos securing the royal flush.

The general manager at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh, Bud Green, commented on another jackpot at the property. He said in a press release:

“We are unexpectedly and happily becoming a national bad beat jackpot hotspot. Congratulations to our winning guests and to our Rivers Pittsburgh Poker Room Team Members for doing a terrific job.”

This latest windfall follows the casino’s 2022 achievement when it set a US record with a $1.2 million Bad Beat payout.
